A bridge at Zhouzhuang, Kunshan City, China

Description - animated view of a stone bridge and canal, a tipical flat-bottom boat passing below, in the famous water township, 1000-year-old Zhouzhuang, a quiet town situated in Kunshan City, about 100 km west of Shanghai. Zhouzhuang has elegant waterways and fine coloured architectures, which earned the town its name of Venice in the East or China's Venice. The photo shows a man with bicycle - the usual Chinese means of transport - with another means of transport below the bridge, which is more common in this quaint ancient place where each house has its quay, that is a wooden boat, moved by one long oar and driven mostly by women skippers.
