Description - The original Palace was built in the 7th century on the Marpo Ri or Red Hill, 130 meters above the Lhasa valley. Destroyed during the war. The present Palace is 119 meters high with 13 floors. Its high historical value derives from being the residence of the Dalai Lamas, the seat of Tibet government and is an important destination for pilgrims who come to visit the tombs of past Dalai Lamas.
