Manger Vanderbilt Hotel, New York City, NY
Description - Opened in 1912 as a luxury hotels with bath in each of the 585 rooms, the 20-story Vanderbilt was built for Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt (who died on the Lusitania in 1915) and designed by Warren & Wetmore and was at the time the second tallest hotel in New York. The Vanderbilt heirs sold the hotel in 1925. In 1954, it was purchased by the Manger Corporation and renamed the Manger Vanderbilt and in 1967 it was converted to apartments and offices.
