The Little Church Around the Corner, New York City, NY
Description - Actually the Church of Transfiguration, at 1 East 29th Street, founded in 1848 by George H. Houghton, gained its more famous name in December 1870. The actor George Holland, almost 80, died a few days before Christmas, and the Reverend of the Church of the Atonement at 28th Street refused the funeral because of the deceased's "loose" profession suggesting to administer the funcion at "the little church around the corner".
